  Parisian Flan recipe, a rich and creamy custard tart with a buttery crust. Ingredients For the crust (pâte brisée): 250g all-purpose flour 125g cold butter, diced 50g sugar 1 pinch of salt 1 egg 2 tbsp cold water For the custard filling: 500ml whole milk 150ml heavy cream 150g granulated sugar 4 large eggs 50g cornstarch 1 tbsp vanilla extract (or seeds from 1 vanilla bean) Instructions 1. Prepare the crust In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Add the cold butter and rub it into the flour with your fingertips until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Add the egg and cold water. Mix until the dough comes together (do not overwork it). Shape into a disk, wrap in plastic, and chill for 30 minutes. 2.  simple recipe for chocolate and vanilla pastries:


Ingredients:


1 sheet of puff pastry (thawed if frozen)

1/2 cup chocolate chips

1/2 cup vanilla custard or pudding

1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)

Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)


Instructions:


Preheat your oven to the temperature specified on the puff pastry package.


Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface.


Cut the pastry sheet into squares or rectangles, depending on your preference.


Place a small amount of chocolate chips and vanilla custard/pudding in the center of each pastry square.


Fold the pastry over to create a triangle or rectangle shape, sealing the edges with a fork.


Brush the top of each pastry with the beaten egg to give them a golden color when baked.


Bake in the preheated oven according to the puff pastry package instructions or until they are golden brown.


Once baked, let the pastries cool for a few minutes. Optionally, dust with powdered sugar before serving.
